BATON ROUGE — The college football world will be focused on the LSU campus this weekend as the 15th-ranked Tigers host top-ranked Alabama in one of the most anticipated, and talked about, home games in school history.
Kickoff for LSU and Alabama is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The game will be televised nationally by CBS. LSU, the reigning national champion, brings a 6-2 overall mark and a 3-2 league record into the game. Alabama is 9-0 overall and 5-0 in conference action.
LSU can remain alive in the SEC Western Division race with a win over the Crimson Tide on Saturday. However, an Alabama victory clinched the western division title for the Crimson Tide and will send them to the league’s championship game in Atlanta in December.

LSU has issued over 650 credentials for this week’s game and those media outlets in attendance in Tiger Stadium on Saturday include: the New York Times, New York Daily News, New York Post, ESPN.com, ESPN the Magazine, CBS Sports.com, CBS College Sports Network, Gannett News Service, SI.com, The Sporting News, The Houston Chronicle, and Yahoo Sports.com.
Saturday’s game represents the first time that LSU has hosted the nation’s top-ranked team in Tiger Stadium since 1997 when the Tigers shocked No. 1 Florida, 28-21. Since then, LSU has gone on to beat the nation’s top-ranked team two more times without a loss, knocking off No. 1 Oklahoma, 21-14, in the 2003 BCS National Championship Game in New Orleans and No. 1 Ohio State, 38-24, in the BCS title game a year ago.
