BATON ROUGE — Three members of the LSU women’s tennis team will travel to Houston to compete in the Holiday Inn Astrodome Rice Classic that begins Friday and lasts through Sunday at Jake Hess Stadium.
Kylie Adamek, Sloane Mathis and Chandler Kleinpeter will compete against opponents from across the South. Joining LSU is host Rice, Houston, SMU, Lamar, North Texas, Texas State, UT-Arlington, UT-San Antonio, Samford and Lee College.
“I am really excited to be here with the girls and see them compete tomorrow,” LSU assistant coach Lisa Jackson said. “It will be a high level of tennis in this tournament, and I am looking forward to seeing how the girls have progressed since the last tournament at Northwestern.”
Doubles will begin at 9 a.m. CDT, and Kleinpeter and Mathis will team up against Frederique Sundstrom and Francesca Bassoo of Lee College in Flight 3.
Singles play will be at noon, and Adamek will compete against Rice’s Rebecca Lin in Flight 4. Mathis will take on North Texas’ Narine Kasarova in Flight 5.
Adamek will sit out doubles play while Kleinpeter will sit out singles.
The tournament features eight singles flights and four doubles flights, and each bracket will consist of eight seeds.
