Four Swimmers Compete at US Open

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Four swimmers on the LSU men’s team competed amongst some of the nation’s best this past week at the prestigious U.S. Open in Minneapolis, Minn.

Senior Julius Gloeckner swam in three events and took part in one time trial over the six-day span. The three-time NCAA All-American opened with the 400-meter individual medley Wednesday, placing 25th with a time of 4 minutes, 31.36 seconds.

Gloeckner took 27th in the 200m freestyle and swam the 100m free time trial in a personal-best time of 52.12 Friday before concluding the competition with a 40th-place finish in the 200m IM Saturday.

Junior Sean LeNeave enjoyed a fine meet, registering personal bests in three long course events.  The Conroe, Texas, native began the competition Wednesday with an impressive showing in the 400m IM, placing 13th out 64 swimmers with a time of 4:27.37. He also recorded top times in the 200m butterfly time trial (2:04.46) Friday and the 200m IM (2:06.90) Saturday.

Junior Nate Telep participated in two events at the Open, notching a mark of 4:36.31 in the 400m IM and swimming the 100m breaststroke time trial in 1:07.19. Sophomore Clint Hallum took part in the 400m IM and 400m free, finishing with times of 4:38.64 and 4:05.21, respectively.
