SHREVEPORT, La. — Coming off a historic meet against Michigan State on Friday, the Tigers continued their dominance, defeating Centenary, 197.050-193.125, in Shreveport, La. on Sunday.
Using a different lineup than what has been seen for most of the season, the Tigers pounded the Ladies of Centenary for the 26th win in 27 meets between the two programs.
The Tigers opened the afternoon on the bars with a season high with a 49.475. All five scores counted for the Tigers were 9.850 or higher. Susan Jackson led the way for LSU with a 9.950. Staci Schwitkis continued her extraordinary weekend, scoring a 9.925. Yvette Triay made her season debut on the bars, and scored a 9.875. Summer Hubbard scored a 9.875 as well, and Kristi Esposito posted a 9.850.
Moving to the vault for the second rotation, the Tigers continued their dominance, scoring a 49.075. Ashleigh Clare-Kearney, fresh off a 10.0 vault performance last Friday, posted a meet-high 9.950. Jackson scored a 9.875 and Schwitkis notched a 9.825.
After the first two rotations, the Tigers already held a commanding lead, 98.550-96.825.
After scoring a season-high 49.550 on the floor on Friday, the Tigers backed up that score with a 49.475 against Centenary. Susan Jackson stole the show on the floor, posting a 9.975 for the second straight meet. Kayla Rogers performed strong on the floor for the second straight meet, posting a 9.875. Summer Hubbard made a splash on the floor in her season debut in the event, scoring a 9.850.
On the beam, the Tigers put together another solid performance, posting a 49.025. Kristi Esposito scored a meet-high 9.875, followed by Samantha Engle (9.825) and Nicole Lyons (9.800).
Jackson won her first career all-around title with a 39.525.
The win puts the Tigers at 10-3 on the season. Their 197.050 score will allow them to drop a lower road score from earlier this season for a higher regional qualifying score.
The Tigers will return to action on Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m. when they face the Washington Huskies in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center for their final regular season home meet.
