MIDLAND, Texas — The LSU women’s tennis team closed out The Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational one day early after the Lady Tigers finished the day with an upset victory in doubles at The Racquet Club on Saturday.

In doubles, Tiffany Tucker teamed up with fellow senior Anastasiya Dubova to pull off a major upset of the 24th-ranked duo of Laura Vallverdu and Michaela Kissell of Miami 9-7.

In singles, for the second time in the tournament Tiffany Tucker lost a hard-fought, three-set match against a nationally ranked opponent. Tucker fell to No. 86 Elizabeth Lumpkin of UCLA 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 in a super tiebreaker.

“I was particularly impressed with Tiffany,” assistant coach Lisa Jackson said. “Her hard work over the summer paid off, and it showed in this tournament. Overall, I was satisfied with how the girls fought, and I’m looking forward to see how they compete in the regionals next week.”

Freshman Kylie Adamek was victorious in her lone match on the day. Adamek won a hotly-contested match that ended in a super tiebreaker as she defeated Victoria Tessmarr of New Mexico 7-6(4), 4-6, 10-6.

The Lady Tigers will now return home and prepare for the ITA Southwest Regionals that will be held Oct. 18-22 in Lubbock, Texas.
