BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s basketball team went through a 46-minute scrimmage Saturday in preparation for Thursday’s first exhibition contest in the Maravich Assembly Center against EA Sports.
The teams were divided in various ways for each game with each team having six players in three 12-minute games and then a final 10-minute game.
One of the highlights of the scrimmage came at the very end as the Golf team of Chris Johnson, Tasmin Mitchell, Darnell Lazare, Ben Voogd, Dameon Mason and Alex Farrer, beat the Purple team 20-19 on a sideline out of bounds play that began with 2.5 seconds left as Voogd through the ball in to Mitchell who hit a fade away three-pointer from the deep left corner as the buzzer sounded for the Gold.
“I thought it was a pretty good effort. It was good to have a second scrimmage as we get ready for Thursday,” said LSU Coach John Brady. “We still have a lot of work to do. We didn’t defend around the goal as well as I would have liked, but we’ll go back to work on that Monday.”
Garrett Temple led LSU with 19 points, including three treys, with Glen Davis, Tack Minor and Magnum Rolle each with 17 points. Rolle was the leading rebounder with 10 boards. Darnell Lazare had 15 points, Chris Johnson and Dameon Mason had 14 each, Ben Voogd 11 (three treys) and Terry Martin and Tasmin Mitchell 10 apiece.
