PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Sophomore Megan Falcon of the LSU women’s tennis team won her seventh match against a ranked opponent Saturday on her way to the consolation finals of the Rivera/ITA-All-American Championships.
“Megan is showing a lot of heart in this tournament,” LSU assistant coach Lisa Jackson said. “She has shown great poise playing so many matches and being so successful.”
Falcon took the first set against North Carolina’s Jenna Long, 6-2, but fell in the second set by a 6-3 count. The loss marked only the third time Falcon has lost a set in this tournament. The California native fired back in the final set as she eliminated Long by a 6-3 decision.
The sophomore sensation continues to play beyond her years as she has defeated four players ranked in the top 50.
Falcon will now face No. 20-ranked Celia Durkin of Stanford in the consolation finals Sunday at 11 a.m. CT
