BATON ROUGE — While the 2006-07 LSU men’s basketball season may seem many months away, the LSU Athletics Ticket Office is giving basketball fans wanting to be a part of the action a chance to put down a deposit on new season tickets.
Now through August 16, the summer ticket campaign will allow LSU fans the chance to put down a $50 non-returnable deposit on seats in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center for the 2006-07 home games. (Make your deposit now!)
Seat locations will not be assigned until after season ticket renewals are made, but it is expected that only 300-level seats will be available. Those who put down a deposit will be first to get their seat assignments following current season ticket holders. Invoices for remaining balances will be mailed out in late August.
The Tigers are coming off a Southeastern Conference championship season in which LSU went to the NCAA Final Four for the first time in 20 years after sweeping through the Atlanta Regional with wins over the tournament’s top seed, No. 1 Duke, and an overtime win over Texas. LSU was 27-9 overall and in 2006-07 with four starters returning including SEC Player of the Year Glen Davis back, LSU will be trying to win the SEC Western Division for the third consecutive year.
The Tigers also have been one of the most successful teams in the country at home in league play, having won 17 consecutive SEC games dating back to the final league game of the 2004 season.
The 2006-07 home schedule is another ambitious one for the Tigers with Texas A&M, a team LSU beat on a last-season three-pointer by Darrel Mitchell in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and the return game against nationally-ranked Connecticut. Also in conference play this year, LSU will host the 2006 national champions from Florida.
