Women's Golf Shoots Even-Par; Leads NCAA Regional

Lady Tigers Finish Seventh at Lady Buckeye

DUBLIN, Ohio — The LSU women’s golf team posted a 301 in the final round of the regular season to finish seventh in the Lady Buckeye Spring Invite Sunday at the Golf Club of Dublin.

Auburn ran away with the tournament title, one week after capturing the Southeastern Conference championship shooting a seven-under 281 round on Sunday to finish the 54-hole event at 15-under par 849. Auburn won by 27 shots over Florida with Purdue in third one shot back at 887.

LSU posted rounds of 293-300-301 for a 54-hole total of 894, 30-over par.

Melissa Eaton led LSU in the overall individual competition with a 17th place finish, shooting rounds of 71-75-76 for a 54-hole total of 222, six-over par. Maria Martinez of Auburn won the individual competition with a score of nine-under 207 (69-67-71), one shot of teammate Nicole Hage.

Caroline Martens had the low round of the final day for LSU, shooting a one-over par score of 73. Eaton, Rebecca Kuhn and Alexis Rather shot the final day counting scores with each having a 76.

The team now waits for the invitations for the NCAA Regional Golf Tournament which will be extended on Monday, May 1 by the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Committee.
