BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team will take on Arkansas on Friday at 7 p.m. at the LSU Soccer complex in a game where a lot is at stake. LSU will look to play spoiler, as the Razorbacks need to win the keep their postseason aspirations alive.
“We are excited to play our last SEC match of the season,” said LSU co-head coach Danielle Fotopoulos. “We are going to come out and play hard for our seniors. Arkansas will be coming into the game needing a win, and so they will be fired up. We are just going to come out and play hard, and do what we need to do to win the game.”
LSU comes into the game with a 6-11-1 record overall, and a 1-8-1 mark in SEC competition. The Tigers are currently on a six game losing streak dating back to Oct. 3 when the Tigers tied the Mississippi State Bulldogs in double overtime, 0-0.
The Arkansas Razorbacks come into the game with an almost identical record of 6-10-2 overall, and a 2-6-2 mark in conference play. Arkansas is also on a losing skid as they have dropped their last four decisions.
LSU is 3-5-1 all-time against the Razorbacks. The last meeting between the two teams came last season as LSU was defeated by Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. in last year’s SEC finale, 3-2.
Baton Rouge native and senior Artie Brown is still looking to take the career record in goals and points. She is currently tied with Jackie Cooper with 36 goals and 82 points. Brown leads the team this season in goals with 10 and points with 21.
The Tigers will finish the season Sunday as they will take on Southern at the LSU Soccer Complex in the Mayor’s Cup at 1 p.m. CST.
