MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The LSU men’s tennis team will try to build on their recent success beginning Thursday at the ITA Region III Championships.

The Tigers are coming off a spectacular run at the ITA All American Championships last weekend, where they sent two singles players and two doubles teams to the main draw.

Kevin Dessauer and Jonathan Howard will begin play tomorrow in the qualifying round. The rest of their teammates will join them in action on Friday.

The task the Tigers face is nearly as daunting as last week’s tournament, with 24 nationally ranked players in the singles draw.

“It’s the most competitive region in the country,” said head coach Jeff Brown.

But Brown said his team is up to the challenge.

“I can really see our confidence growing,” he said.

Jason Hazley is the highest-ranked LSU player in the singles tournament. He reached the main draw at the All-American tournament with teammate Ken Skupski, who will only play doubles this weekend.

Hazley and Danny Bryan and Skupski and Mark Growcott will represent LSU in the doubles main draw.
