BATON ROUGE — A total of 30 LSU student-athletes, representing nine of the school’s varsity sports programs, received their diplomas Friday at the fall commencement exercises held at various locations around the LSU campus.
Among those receiving degrees was basketball player Collis Temple, who on the eve of a meeting with top-ranked Arizona in the Maravich Assembly Center, received his Master’s of Science degree in Sports Management.
Temple becomes of the few people in Division I basketball to have completed both his undergraduate and graduate work with eligibility still remaining.
Four members of LSU baseball College World Series championship teams also graduated on Friday: Patrick Coogan (1996, 1997) in General Business, Blair Barbier (1997, 2000) in Finance, David Raymer
(2000) in General Studies and David Miller (2000) in Civil Engineering. Also graduating in Kinesiology was a member of Skip Bertman‘s 1985-87 teams, former major league pitcher, Barry Manuel.
Other graduates include football player Chad Lewis, who graduated with honors (cum laude) in Marketing; diving All-American Ashley Culpepper (Elementary Education) and three players involved in LSU’s current run of SEC titles and a third place finish in the Women’s College World Series, softball players Ashley Lewis (Family Child and Consumer Sciences); April Janzen (Elementary Education) and All-American pitcher Britni Sneed (Kinesiology).
