PALO ALTO, Calif. — LSU’s 19th-ranked doubles team comprised of senior Bruna Colosio and sophomore Rocio Fantilli was defeated in the first round of the NCAA Doubles Championships on Wednesday here at the Taube Family Tennis Center in Palo Alto, Calif.
In the opening round of the season-ending tournament consisting of the top-32 doubles teams in the nation, LSU’s tandem of Colosio and Fantilli fell to UCLA’s fifth-ranked pair of Megan Bradley and Lauren Fisher, 6-3, 7-5.
With the loss, the Lady Tigers’ pair finished the 2002 season in the midst of a two-match losing streak and ended the year with an overall record of 13-9. Colosio and Fantilli dropped their final two matches of the season against Kentucky’s seventh-ranked Sarah Witten and Carolina Mayorga and UCLA’s No. 5-ranked Bradley and Fisher.
