BATON ROUGE — The LSU baseball program has received national letters-of-intent from six pitchers, giving the Tigers a final total of 16 recruits for the fall signing period.
The most recent signees include right-hander Brandon Nall of Dothan-Wallace (Ala.) Community College, right-hander Billy Sadler of Pensacola (Fla.) Junior College, right-hander Justin Meier of West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Fla., right-hander Nate Bumstead of the College of Southern Idaho, right-hander Justin Gee of Sarasota (Fla.) High School and left-hander Kyle Pawelczyk of Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Fla.
The signees are scheduled to enroll at LSU in the fall of 2002.
Nall, a 2001 first-team all-conference selection at Dothan-Wallace CC, posted a 9-6 mark with a 1.15 ERA in 90 innings of work. Sadler was limited by injuries last season at Pensacola JC; however, in his senior season at Pensacola Catholic High School, he posted a 4-1 mark on the mound with a 0.72 ERA and three shutouts.
Meier was a 2001 all-state selection at West Orange High, recording a 10-1 mark and a 0.98 ERA in 75 innings with seven walks and 95 strikeouts. Bumstead, a Las Vegas native, is a former all-conference selection, and Gee is a former Babe Ruth World Series Most Valuable Player. Pawelczyk, a native of Elkins, W.V., was 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA and 30 strikeouts during the 2001 regular season at Chipola JC.
