BATON ROUGE — The LSU swimming and diving program signed top prospect Hannah Martin of West Monroe, La., head coach Jeff Cavana announced on Thursday.
“Hannah will be a great addition to our women’s team in both butterfly and distance events”, Cavana said. “She is someone who we feel can really step up and perform well for us next year.”
Martin was the state high school champion this season in the 100-butterfly and was runner-up in the 500-freestyle. Martin was also a junior national finalist.
Assistant swimming coach Lars Jorgensen recruited Martin heavily at West Monroe high school, so the signing is very satisfying.
“Hannah is a really great athlete and a great person as well”, said Jorgensen. “She is someone who we all feel can really contribute to our team in a positive way.”
The Tigers will return to action in January, 2002 when the men face Florida in a key conference meet.
