KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — LSU’s doubles pair of Jesse Smatt and Bryan Fisher were ousted in the quarterfinal round of the 2001 Omni Hotels ITA Region III Championships on Sunday in Knoxville, Tenn.
Smatt and Fisher, a No. 9-16 seed, lost to the Middle Tennessee team of Daniel Klemetz and Kirk Jackson, 8-2, after upsetting Georgia’s No. 8-seeded team of Nicholas Boeker and Brandon Wagner, 9-8.
On Saturday, No. 8 seed Wagner knocked Fisher out of the singles draw, 7-6, 7-6, while Boeker did the same to Smatt in Friday’s singles third round, 7-6, 7-6.
LSU returns to action on Nov. 2 when it plays host to the inaugural LSU Showcase at the W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium on the campus of LSU.
