DAYTON, Ohio – – The LSU swimming and diving teams were both victorious in their meet against Wright State University Saturday afternoon. With the win the Lady Tigers improve to 6-1, 2-1, while the men’s team ups its record to 5-1, 1-1.

“We did what we had to do today in order to get the wins,” said head coach Rick Meador. “After losing the way we did last night, it’s always good to come back and try to begin a new winning streak.”

The Tigers and the Lady Tigers each lost in heartbreaking fashion Friday night versus Kentucky as the Wildcats picked up both victories in the last two races of the meet. The losses are the first blemishes on LSU’s record this season.

LSU won every event on the women’s side of the meet against Wright State, as the Lady Tigers won by the score of 130-45.

Freshman Suzie Flook set a pool record in the 200-yard butterfly as she blew by the competition in 2:04.35.

The Lady Tiger’s junior diver Ashley Culpepper was victorious in each of the diving events as she won the 1-meter competition by scoring 281.175 and the 3-meter event with a total of 317.25. LSU’s Gretchen Mury finished second in each of the diving events for the Lady Tigers.

LSU sophomore Mandy Leach won each of her events against Wright State. She finished first in both the 100-yard freestyle (53.08) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.12).

The Tigers won on the men’s side of the competition 120-75 as the 400-yard medley relay team of Neal Satterly, Steve Gluck, Jeff Maynor, and captain Ken Kuhn set a pool record with an outstanding time of 3:25.37.

Junior Corey Fox won both diving events for the Tigers as he finished with scores of 326.425 (1-meter) and 326.25 (3-meter).

Kuhn placed first in each of his events versus Wright State. In the 50-freestyle he swam a 21.49, while in the 100-freestyle he won with a time of 46.93. LSU won all but two events on the day. Wright State was victorious in the men’s 200-yard freestyle, and the men’s 500-freestyle.
