COLUMBUS, Ohio — The LSU soccer team (4-2) had a tough time getting their offense going Sunday as they lost to Dayton (5-1), 3-0. Dayton came into the game as the number seven team in the Great Lakes Region and had the Tigers on their heels for most of the game.

“In the first half we came out kind of slow, and in the first 15 minutes they scored two goals,” said LSU co-head coach Danielle Fotopoulos. “I do think certain individuals did well and better than they have.”

The first goal of the game for the Flyers came on a corner that was played shot and crossed by Katie Lowstuter to Reba Sedlacek who ripped one from eight yards out in the 13th minute. Dayton would be awarded a penalty kick after a Tiger foul in the box. Stacy Palumbo of Dayton would score on the penalty shot in the 15th minute to give the Flyers a 2-  lead in the first half.

The Flyers scored again in the 56th minute on a shot by Sedlacek from 23 yards on. The Flyers would out shoot the Tigers 15-9, but the Tigers would take more shots in the second half taking eight to Dayton’s six. Sophomore forward Stacy Bishop had three shots and the Tiger’s only shot on goal.

“We just really have to concentrate and work on getting better for SEC play,” said Fotopoulos. “I think it is good we have two more games before SEC play starts, so we have some time to work out our attitude as well as our shape.”

The Tigers will go on the road next weekend to Colorado to take on Colorado on Friday, Sept. 17 and Wyoming on Sunday, Sept. 19 in the Colorado Classic.
