Tania Schatow, an ex-LSU volleyball standout player, is entering her first season as an assistant coach for the Tigers.

Schatow was a hard worker when she played for the Tigers which allowed her to become an impact player during her senior season. During her final season at LSU she was one of only eight players to play in all 30 matches for the Tigers including 27 starts. Schatow saw action in 106 of 107 sets during that season. She recorded 90 blocks, the second-highest on the team, along with 103 kills. Throughout her career she played in 72 total matches tallying over 220 kills and 160 blocks. In her time with the Tigers, Schatow was an exemplary leader on the court and in the class room. She was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2009 and 2010.

Her success on the court at LSU allowed Schatow to go on and play volleyball professionally in Europe at the Highest level. She spent five total years playing in Belgium which was split apart when she played her second professional year in France. Whether Schatow was playing in Belgium or France, she excelled becoming a top player on her Belgium team within the first year of her being there and then going on to become a top blocker in the Lige A division in France. Making a return to Belgium, Schatow won the award of best blocker in the league during the 2015-16 season.

While in Europe, Schatow also began her coaching career in conjunction with her playing career. While she was there she coached two teams to championships.

A native of Fraser, Michigan, Schatow graduated from LSU with a degree in Kinesiology in 2011.
