Scarlett Gonzalez joined the LSU Sports Medicine Department in July 2025 as an Athletic Training Intern.
Gonzalez earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from West Texas A&M University before completing her Master of Athletic Training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, graduating in 2026.
During her graduate education, Gonzalez gained extensive clinical experience across a variety of athletic settings. In her first year, she worked with Texas Tech University’s track & field program, where she contributed to the care of student-athletes during thier season in which both the men’s and women’s teams captured Big 12 Indoor and Outdoor Championship titles. She also gained valuable experience in secondary school settings and outpatient sports medicine settings, further developing her skills in injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and return-to-play decision-making.
As part of her advanced clinical immersions, Gonzalez completed a fall 2025 rotation with the University of Arizona volleyball program, working alongside Division I student-athletes in a highly competitive environment. She then completed a spring 2026 immersion with the University of Texas softball program, assisting with the care of the Longhorns on their run to be back-to-back NCAA National Championships.
Gonzalez is certified in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Stop the Bleed and is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and the Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association (SWATA).
Away from the athletic training room, Gonzalez enjoys spending time with her family, caring for her ever-growing collection of houseplants, reading, and going to the movies.
