Gabriel Lopez is a sophomore student worker with LSU Athletics, serving in the Communications Department as the primary contact and liaison for LSU Men’s Tennis.
A Houston, Texas, native with strong family roots in Louisiana and at LSU, Lopez is part of the E.J. Ourso College of Business Class of 2029, majoring in Information Systems and Analytics.
In his first season with the program, Lopez monitored a Tiger squad that posted a 26-7 record and reestablished itself as one of the country's top teams. After qualifying for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, reaching a season-high No. 5 national ranking, and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Regional hosted in Baton Rouge, Lopez gained as much experience as possible in his year-one campaign.
Lopez joined LSU Athletics midway through his first semester in 2025, quickly gaining experience as a Student Assistant Communications Director. He began by assisting with football communications efforts, including conducting a player interview that led to his first published article in the LSU football game day program. By the end of his first semester, he was assisting with responsibilities across various teams before being promoted to lead contact for Men’s Tennis.
Lopez has benefited from mentorship from experienced SIDs, who have helped him learn the ins and outs of athletic communications and public relations. He collaborates closely with coaches, players, and professionals in the tennis community while managing team statistics, writing match recaps, and coordinating with the creative and marketing teams on social media and promotional efforts.
Lopez is eager to continue building his experience in sports communications and analytics with LSU Athletics.
