Cormia Lewis joined the LSU Sports Medicine Department in June 2026 as an Athletic Training Intern working with the (PMAC) athletic programs.
Lewis earned her bachelor’s degrees in kinesiology and psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2024, where she was also a member of the women’s basketball team.
She went on to complete her master of science in athletic training at the University of Houston from 2024-26.
During her graduate training, Lewis gained extensive clinical experience working with the University of Houston men’s basketball team, where she assisted during both the Big 12 Tournament and the NCAA Tournament. She also gained experience working with football, soccer, Olympic sports, and high school athletics with the University of Houston football program, Rice women’s soccer, Rice football, and Dawson High School athletics. In addition, she completed a summer clinical experience with UT Health Hospital, where she assisted with orthopedic evaluations and post-operative rehabilitation programs.
She is CPR/AED and Emergency Response certified, trained in QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer), and is an active member of both the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association. Lewis was recognized as the University of Houston’s Most Outstanding Second-Year Athletic Training Student in 2025 and earned recognition at SWATA for a clinical case study poster presentation.
Outside of athletic training, Cormia enjoys fitness, traveling, basketball, community outreach events, and spending time with family and friends.
