Stephanie Rempe (pronounced Remp) was named LSU Executive Deputy Director of Athletics/Chief Operating Officer in July 2019 after serving in the same capacity at Texas A&M for three years. One of the most respected administrators in collegiate athletics, Rempe oversees every facet of the daily operations of the department of athletics. Throughout Rempe’s tenure in athletic administration she has had the opportunity to work with 25 national championships head coaches and 15 other head coaches who have reached the finals of their respective sports.

A consummate professional with comprehensive and distinctive leadership experience, Rempe works with the senior athletics administration team on organizational structure, strategic initiatives, supervisory responsibilities for all sports, revenue generation opportunities, internal and external projects, strategic communications, and capital projects.

Since arriving at LSU, the landscape of college athletics has changed considerably: LSU captured the 2019 football national championship and in less than three months COVID-19 changed the world. Rempe has led the athletic department in everything from addressing financial challenges of COVID-19 to creating a best-in-class, comprehensive NIL program, from the social justice movement to a complete overhaul of LSU’s commitment to the prevention of sexual and domestic violence. Rempe works relentlessly to ensure financial stability, including the implementation of several cost-cutting and revenue-generating measures. Ensuring LSU is at the forefront of all transformative efforts at LSU and across the collegiate athletics landscape, Rempe continues to work on the balance of investing in the growth of the athletics program, while remaining fiscally responsible, including efforts to create a transparent work environment focused on recruiting, developing, and retaining the best staff in the country.

While at Texas A&M Rempe was a liaison between athletics and the 12th Man Foundation, system general council, Levy Restaurants, Learfield’s multi-media rights relationship and was the sport supervisor for the football and men’s basketball programs. During her time with the Aggies, several facility projects came to completion including a state-of-the art track stadium and softball stadium as well as several studies for long-term capital planning.

At both Texas A&M and LSU Rempe has been responsible for the organizational structure of the department as well as numerous initiatives including an enhanced focus on collaboration across all units working with individual sports; increased focus on HR with the recruitment, hiring, developing and retaining staff; revenue generation through technology, strategic ticketing initiatives, enhanced partnerships and subscription services; expense reduction efforts; annual sports benchmarking analysis; strategic communications efforts and crisis management policies; improved collaboration with the student athlete academic center; and department oversight of a two year, 100+ person game day experience task force. Rempe was instrumental in the hiring of eight new head coaches at LSU, creating a collaborative relationship with the Tiger Athletic Foundation to capitalize on a robust fundraising structure with new initiatives, renegotiating the multi-media rights agreement and the Nike apparel contract, spearheading the athletics component of a championship healthcare partnership resulting in nearly $100m investment in athletics and ensured athletics made a significant effort to improvement the alignment and collaboration with the campus community.

Rempe served as Sr. Associate Athletics Director at the University of Washington from 2008-16. She influenced or led almost every aspect of the UW athletics department, including direct supervision of several sports teams, management of all capital projects, including the $285M renovation of Husky Stadium, and administration of numerous department units.

Among her additional areas of responsibilities throughout her time at UW were Facilities, Event Management, IT, Academics, Equipment and Sports Medicine, all of which flourished under her management. UW regularly hosted large-scale NCAA events including the 2015 NCAA Men’s Basketball First and Second Rounds and the 2013 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Final Four. Rempe also led the department’s Title IX and diversity initiatives. In 2015, Rempe took on the expansive role of Interim CFO for a nine-month period, managing the Business, HR, and Travel offices.

Prior to her time in Seattle, Rempe served as a Senior Associate Athletics Director at the University of Oklahoma (2003-08) and worked as an Associate Athletics Director at UTEP (1998-2003) after beginning her professional career at her alma mater, the University of Arizona as a Senior Program Coordinator (1995-98).

Throughout her career, Rempe served as a member of the governance structure of the Pac-12 Conference, Big XII Conference and Western Athletics Conference, as well as serving on numerous NCAA and conference committees.

During her collegiate years at Arizona, Rempe was a four-year letter winner for the Wildcats volleyball team. She received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1993 and a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Arizona in 1995.

In 2004, Rempe was inducted into the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Hall of Fame and into the Santa Barbara High School Hall of Fame in 2002. In both 2001 and 2006, she competed in the Boston Marathon, and, in 2007, placed second in the Redman Iron Distance Triathlon.

Rempe is married to Greg Remien. They are parents of a daughter, Riley, and a son, Ryan.
