Junior season (2000)
During the indoor season she came up with an indoor PR of 5:07.03 at the SEC Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, just missing the final with a sixth place finish in her preliminary round … Top 800-meter time of the indoor season was a 2:19.12 at the LSU Last Ditch … Second best mile time of the season was a 5:14.57 at the LSU Twilight …Saw limited action during the outdoor season … Ran a PR 1,500-meter time of 4:40.53 at the U.S. Collegiate Series in Baton Rouge, the second fastest time recorded by a Lady Tiger in 2000 … Competed in both the 800 and 1,500-meter runs at the SEC Outdoor Championships, placing 15th in the half mile and 19th in the 1,500 in times of 2:17.91 and 4:43.08 respectively.
Sophomore season (1999)
Continued to bolster the Lady Tigers’ distance corps, finishing the indoor season with a top time in the mile of 5:13.77 in the preliminary rounds of the SEC Championships in Gainesville, Fla. … Followed that with a second place effort at the LSU Last Ditch in a time of 5:14.31 the following week … During the outdoor season she finished fifth in the 1,500 at the SEC Quadrangular in a time of 4:53.37, then went on to place fourth in the 3,000 in a season-best time of 10:50.60 … Came up with her best 1,500 meter time of the season at the U.S. Collegiate Track & Field Series meet where she placed ninth in a time of 4:50.81 … Finished 16th in the 3,000 at the Texas Relays, posting a time of 10:51.52 … Finished second in the 800 at the Loyola Invitational with a time of 2:18.18.
Freshman season (1998)
Played a big part in the Lady Tigers’ SEC Indoor title run, leading off the fifth place DMR team with the 1200-meter leg, a group that set the stage for LSU’s dramatic victory in the final event of the competition … Ran a then-PR time of 5:11.52 in the prelims of the mile at the SEC Indoor Championships in Baton Rouge … During the outdoor season, she opened with a strong showing at the LSU Invitational, placing third in the 800 with a season-best time of 2:23.12 and a second place finish in the 1,500 with a time of 4:54.32 … Ran a season best time in the 1,500 of 4:53.65 at the Tulane Quadrangular where she placed seventh … Ran a time of 4:53.74 in the 1,500 meter prelims at the SEC Outdoor Championships, but did not advance.
Prep career
Was a member of State Championship cross country team at Newman High School in 1993 … Newman won District and Regional Championships in each of her four seasons … Was the State Champion in the 1,600 in 1996, as well as her team’s MVP in both track and field and cross country.
