Freshman season (2000)
Developed into a solid two-event threat capable of scoring on the conference level … Got stronger as the season went along … Came up with an indoor PR of 45-3 in the shot put at the LSU Last Ditch … Finished 11th in the shot put at the SEC Indoor Championships with a throw of 440 … Cracked the 50-foot mark in the 20-lb. weight throw for the first time at the LSU Last Ditch, coming up with a mark of 50-1 1/4 … During the outdoor season she finished eighth and the SEC Championships, with a throw of 44-2 …Set a PR in the shot put with a throw of 47-03/4, her first-ever throw over 47 feet … Finished 10th in the discus at the SEC Outdoor meet with a seven-foot PR throw of 149-6 … Previous best was a throw of 142-5 at USC Invitational in Los Angeles … Also competed in the hammer on several occasions and came up with a best mark of 135-6 at the USTCA National Championships in Austin, Texas.
Prep career
Set school records in both the shot put and discus at Seymour High School and earned All-State and All-Conference honors three consecutive years … Also lettered in golf one year … A member of the National Honors Society, earning high honors academically, and winner of the National Choral Award … Set goals of being a 60-foot shot putter and a 180-foot discus thrower by the time she is done at LSU.
