SOPHOMORE SEASON (2025-26)
In the season opener at the SMU Classic, Bernardo placed fourth in the 400-IM (4:22.57), seventh in the 200-IM (2:04.40), and eighth in the 200-breast (2:27.13) … At the Air Force Invitational, she finished fifth in the 100-back (58.16) and ninth in both the 200-IM (2:10.65) and 400-IM (4:38.65) … Bernardo touched the wall fourth in the 200-IM (2:01.85), fifth in the 100-back (54.79), and fifth in the 200-back (2:01.82) against Kentucky in the home opener … Against Alabama and FSU, she placed fourth in the 200-back (1:58.49), sixth in the 200-IM with a season best (2:01.72), and 7th in the 100-back with a personal best time (54.79) … In the women’s only quad meet against Rice, Houston, and Tulane, the sophomore took fourth in the 100-back (54.83), fifth in the 200-IM (2:03.22), and seventh in the 200-back (1:59.81) … At midseasons, she notched ninth in the 400-IM with a season best (4:16.14) and 15th in both the 200-back (2:01.28) and the 200-IM (2:02.30) … In Gainesville against the Gators, Bernardo placed sixth in the 100-back (57.43), the 200-back (2:04.66), and the 200-IM (2:09.58) … At the SEC Championships in Knoxville, she concluded her sophomore season by finishing 29th in the 200-back with a personal best (1:57.56), 30th in the 400-IM (4:19.14), and 42nd in the 100-back (55.09)
FRESHMAN SEASON (2024-25)
In the season opener against Texas took seventh in 100-back (55.24), fifth in 200-back (1:59.38), and fifth in 200-IM (2:04.00) … Against Navy, George Mason, and Loyola placed fifth in 100-back (56.75), fifth in 200-IM (2:08.06), and third in 200-back (2:02.71) … In the tri-meet against Houston and Tulane finished eighth in 100-back (57.30) and 11th in 400-IM (4:26.81) … Against Alabama and FSU earned a personal best placing eighth in 100-back (54.94), seventh in 200-back (1:59.26), and seventh in 200-IM (2:02.96) … At midseasons, notched three top-20 finishes including 20th in 200-IM (2:01.28), 17th in 400-IM (4:17.20), and 20th in 200-back (1:59.31) … In the dual meet against Texas A&M placed seventh in 100-back (56.68), sixth in 200-back (2:01.27), and fifth in 200-IM (2:03.29) … At SEC Championships earned three personal best including taking 44th place in 200-back (1:58.38), 40th in 200-IM (2:01.17), and 27th in 400-IM (4:15.89)
HIGH SCHOOL
Attended Charlotte Catholic High School in her hometown of Charlotte, N.C…. Earned a spot on the state team all four years of high school and won the state championship during her freshman year… Attended Summer Juniors two years in a row and competed in my first U.S. Open
PERSONAL
Born on Aug. 14, 2005… When arriving at LSU, she chose to pursue her degree in construction management… Her parents’ names are Ken and Tracey; she has one sibling: a sister named CJ… An interesting fact about her is she received her black belt in karate… Her grandfather was an accomplished junior golfer at the high school and amateur level; her great grandfather – James Vincent Bernardo – was the Director of Space Education for NASA at the height of the Apollo Programs… Chose LSU because “It is a big SEC school with many academic and athletic opportunities. I think the campus is beautiful. The coaching staff is really nice, and they want to help me achieve my swim goals.”
