Junior Season (1999-2000): Went 1-0 in dual matches with 6-0, 6-0 victory, at No.5 singles, against Southern … Advanced to the finals of the “C” Draw in the USL Fall Tennis Classic… Had one clinching point.
Sophomore Season (1998-99): Went 1-0 in dual matches on the season with 6-0, 6-0 victory in the Southern match … Had one clinching point … Provided key depth when injury plagued the team.
Freshman Season (1997-98): Did not compete in any matches … Added enthusiasm to the court both in practice and in matches.
Prior to LSU: Enjoyed notable success in the Louisiana high school ranks both on the court and in the classroom … Played tennis, ran track and cross country and was a swimmer for Jesuit High School … As a freshman he won the Coach Gernon Brown Award for the schools Best All-Around Athlete for JV Sports … Earned All-State, All-Regional, and All-District honors in tennis his senior season … Reached finals of Louisiana Region IV Tennis Tournament in 1996 … Earned All-Metro Honors for Academic Achievements.
Personal: Born on Dec. 20, 1977 … Graduated from LSU last summer in Microbiology with a Minor in Chemistry while maintaining a 3.45 GPA … Presently working on a Masters in Biology with a Minor in Biochemistry at LSU … Plays righthanded … Parents are Larry Hurd and Marymichael Galway … Twin brother David is also an LSU student … Step Father John Petitbon was an All-American Football player on Notre Dame’s 1948 National Championship Team and played professional football in the 1950’s for the World Champion Cleveland Browns and is a member of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
