SENIOR SEASON (2002)
A strong leader and a dedicated student, Degteva was selected by her teammates to serve as co-captain for the second-straight year … Won six individual titles (three on vault, one on bars, two on floor) during her senior season and tallied 13 for her four-year career … One of just six LSU gymnasts to score better than 9.90 on all four events … Anchored the team’s much improved vaulting lineup with an average of 9.856 without posting a fall … Recorded a career high and team season high 9.975 on vault in a tri-meet with Rhode Island and Centenary on March 15 … Became the fourth vaulter in school history to post at least a 9.975 … Led LSU with a 9.925 on vault in the team’s upset of Utah on Feb. 1 and was named SEC Athlete of the Week following her performance … Scored a season and career best 9.950 on floor in the Super Six Challenge to open the season and matched this score in the tri-meet with Rhode Island and Centenary … Added a career-high 9.950 on bars in the tri-meet after doing so against Kentucky earlier in the season … Member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the third time … Earned her fourth varsity letter at LSU.
JUNIOR SEASON (2001)
Degteva posted a breakout year, posting nine scores of 9.90 or better, while picking up five individual titles … She won two vault titles, two bars titles and one floor title during the 2001 season … Posted 9.925s on floor three consecutive weeks during the heart of the schedule, consecutive meets against Florida, Auburn and a tri-meet with Michigan State and New Hampshire … Registered three 9.925s on bars and two 9.90s on vault … Earned Academic All-American honors and was a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the second time.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2000)
Posted the first two individual titles of her career, taking the beam at Centenary with a career best 9.925, then later tied for the vault title against Auburn with a career best 9.85 … Matched her 9.925 on bars the following week against Centenary, then two weeks later went 9.90 on bars against Auburn, giving her three scores of 9.90 or better in a four week stretch … Came up with her best outing of the year on floor against Alabama, recording a 9.875 … Came up with a 9.80 on vault at the NCAA Championships in Boise, Idaho … Member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
FRESHMAN SEASON (1999)
Competed in the all-around on one occasion in 1999, registering a 37.800 against Southeast Missouri State…Came up with a 9.90 on the bars on two occasions – vs. Florida and vs. Southeast Missouri State…Had several strong outings on the bars with a 9.80 at Alabama, a 9.825 at the SEC Championships and a 9.725 at the NCAA Championships in Salt Lake City … Contributed heavily in bars averaging 9.661 over eight meets.
