OXFORD, Miss.. – The No. 44 LSU men’s tennis team (11-8, 2-7 SEC) fell to No. 32 Ole Miss (14-6, 4-4 SEC) by a score of 6-1 on Sunday, April 2 at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center..
Doubles
Julien Penzlin and George Stoupe faced Nikola Slavic and Noah Schlagenhauf on court 3. The Rebel pair won 6-4.
In the No. 2 spot, Chen Dong and Welsh Hotard competed against Lukas Engelhardt and Isac Stromberg, winning 7-6(5).
No. 48 Stefan Latinovic and Nick Watson faced John Hallquist Lithen and Simon Junk. Ole Miss clinched the doubles point 7-6(5) and took the lead 1-0.
Singles
Penzlin faced Schlagenhauf on court 5. Schlagenhauf won 6-4, 6-1 and advanced Ole Miss’ score to 2-0.
In the No. 2 spot, Latinovic competed against Hallquist Lithen. The Rebel took the match 6-4, 6-4 and pushed Ole Miss’ lead to 3-0.
No. 92 Dong faced Junk on court 3. The Tiger won 6-4, 6-4 and placed LSU on the scoreboard 3-1.
In the No. 6 spot, Stoupe took the court against Stromberg. The Rebel won 6-4, 6-2 and clinched the match for Ole Miss 4-1. The rest of the matches continued to play out.
Hotard competed against Engelhardt on court 4. Engelhardt won the match 6-4, 7-5 and pushed Ole Miss’ score to 5-1.
No. 58 Ronnie Hohmann faced No. 66 Slavic in the three set battle. Set one went to Slavic 6-3. Hohmann came back to even the match 7-6(1). In the third set, Slavic took the match 10-6. The final score was 6-1 Ole Miss.
