Bryan-College Station, TX. – The No. 12 LSU Women’s Tennis team was defeated by a score of 4-0 by the No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday afternoon at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
With the loss, LSU falls to 10-4 overall and 5-4 in SEC play, while Texas A&M moves to 12-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

“Credit to A&M for their win today,” co-head coach Michael Sell said. “We have a quick turnaround before we hit the road again to improve on the small things that got the better of us today. We have a strong team of competitors and we created a lot of opportunities and we will do a better job of capitalizing on them.”
Doubles Results
The Aggies struck first in doubles when Renee McBryde and Dorthea Faa-Hviding defeated sophomore Safiya Carrington and freshman Samantha Buyckx in a 6-4 contest at the No. 2 doubles.
LSU pulled one back at the No. 3, where seniors Taylor Bridges and Paris Corley got their 12th win of the season as a duo when they held off a late charge from Jessica Anzo and Katya Townsend to win 6-4.
Texas A&M clinched the doubles point with a win at the No. 1, where Tatiana Makarova and Jayci Goldsmith defeated senior Eden Richardson and sophomore Nina Geissler by a score of 6-4.
Singles Results
The Aggies grabbed a 2-0 after Anzo was victorious over Buyckx at the No. 6 singles. The first set was an even contest, with Anzo able to pull ahead at the end and win 7-5 before keeping momentum in the second set to win 6-1.
No. 52 Makarova made it three for the Aggies with a win at the No. 1 over No. 39 Bridges. Makarova claimed the first set 6-2 before repeating the scoreline in the second to extend the lead for her team.
At the No. 5, McBryde clinched the match for Texas A&M with a win over Richardson. The first set saw the two swap points back and forth and eventually required a tiebreaker, which McBryde was able to win. The second set saw McBryde able to pull away and not look back on her way to a 6-3 win to seal victory for the hosting Aggies.
