Bryan-College Station, TX. – The No. 12 LSU Women’s Tennis team was defeated by a score of 4-0 by the No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday afternoon at the Mitchell Tennis Center.

Selling Points
“Credit to A&M for their win today,” co-head coach Michael Sell said. “We have a quick turnaround before we hit the road again to improve on the small things that got the better of us today. We have a strong team of competitors and we created a lot of opportunities and we will do a better job of capitalizing on them.”

Doubles Results

The Aggies struck first in doubles when Renee McBryde and Dorthea Faa-Hviding defeated sophomore Safiya Carrington and freshman Samantha Buyckx in a 6-4 contest at the No. 2 doubles.

LSU pulled one back at the No. 3, where seniors Taylor Bridges and Paris Corley got their 12th win of the season as a duo when they held off a late charge from Jessica Anzo and Katya Townsend to win 6-4.

Texas A&M clinched the doubles point with a win at the No. 1, where Tatiana Makarova and Jayci Goldsmith defeated senior Eden Richardson and sophomore Nina Geissler by a score of 6-4.

Singles Results

The Aggies grabbed a 2-0 after Anzo was victorious over Buyckx at the No. 6 singles. The first set was an even contest, with Anzo able to pull ahead at the end and win 7-5 before keeping momentum in the second set to win 6-1.

No. 52 Makarova made it three for the Aggies with a win at the No. 1 over No. 39 Bridges. Makarova claimed the first set 6-2 before repeating the scoreline in the second to extend the lead for her team.
