Gymnastics Week Seven Rankings

BATON ROUGE – In the final national rankings of 2021 based on team average, the LSU Gymnastics kept its spot at No. 2. 

The Tigers own an average of 197.325 this season after scoring a 197.325 in Tuscaloosa Friday night. LSU has now earned a 197-plus score in five-straight meets. 

Next Monday the rankings will be based on NQS. This year it will be the average of four scores – a team’s top two road scores and top two home scores. LSU’s NQS at this point is a 197.531, which includes home scores of 198.050 and 197.200 and away scores of 197.550 and 197.325. 

As a team, LSU ranks second in the nation on bars and beam. The squad owns the fourth spot on floor and fifth spot on vault. 

Individually, freshman Haleigh Bryant is fifth on vault, eighth in the all-around and 14th on beam. Seniors Sami Durante and Bridget Dean rank fourth on bars and 13th on beam. Sarah Edwards is 23rd on vault and floor. Sophomore Kiya Johnson is 23rd on bars and fellow sophomore Alyona Shchennikova is 17th on beam and 12th in the all-around. 

The second-ranked Tigers will travel to Lexington to take on No. 14 Kentucky at 6 p.m. CT Friday in Memorial Coliseum. The meet will be streamed on SEC Network with John Roethlisberger and Alicia Sacramone Quinn on the call.
