Javonte Smart Could See Action in California Classic

BATON ROUGE – Former LSU basketball player Javonte Smart could see his first action as a member of the Miami Heat roster when the third annual California Classic kicks off Tuesday night in Sacramento at the Golden I Center.

The California Classic and an event in Utah at the same time set the stage for the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas in which all 30 teams will participate, beginning on Aug. 8.

The Heat, which signed the former LSU star moments after the draft ended as a free agent, will face the Los Angeles Lakers in a 7 p.m. CDT contest that will be carried on ESPN2 Tuesday.

Miami will play Golden State on Wednesday night in a game not listed for television coverage.
