Baton Rouge, La. – Wasila Diwura-Soale, a midfielder for the LSU soccer team, has been called up to the Ghana National Team camp, the country’s soccer association announced on Thursday (July 15).
Diwura-Soale is one of 38 players invited to the camp in preparations for matches that Ghana will play against Nigeria in October of this fall and February of 2022. The two squads will be playing for a ticket to the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations that will take place in Morocco.
Diwura-Soale started 17 of 19 matches for LSU last year and will be a key component during the fall of 2021. The first assist of her LSU career came on November 6 on the road at No. 8 Texas A&M. She ended the 2020-21 season as LSU’s leading assister with four on the season.
LSU soccer begins their 2021 season on August 7 with a preseason exhibition match against ULM at LSU Soccer Stadium. The first official match of the fall season is August 19 versus Southern Miss at LSU Soccer Stadium.
