Baton Rouge, La. – Garrett Barber, a member of the LSU golf team, secured his spot at the 2021 U.S. Amateur on Monday afternoon by winning a qualifier hosted at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi.

Playing in a field of 76 players with five qualifying spots available, Barber left no doubt as he ran away with medalist honors beating the field by four strokes. He carded rounds of 65 (-7) and 70 (-2) to finish the 36-hole, one-day tournament at 9-under 135 overall.
He made nine birdies on the day and one eagle between the two rounds. His first round 7-under 65 was the lowest round of the event. With the win, Barber advances to the 2021 U.S. Amateur that will take place August 9-15 at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.
