LSU Athletics Honors 22 Grads Virtually at 'The Tribute'

BATON ROUGE – LSU’s 22 student-athlete graduates were honored virtually on Thursday night as the school hosted its annual “Tribute”, a ceremony where each graduate is presented with their special student-athlete graduate stole.

The Tribute also recognized LSU’s student-athletes for their academic achievement and those that have exhausted their athletic eligibility received their first-year membership into the LSU National L Club, the school’s letterwinner’s award group.

The 22 student-athletes will officially graduate from LSU on Friday when the university will hold a social distanced graduation in Tiger Stadium for its fall graduates.

Among those participating in The Tribute were LSU Director of Athletics Scott Woodward and LSU Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. Stacia Haynie.

“This class has won championships, set records, and now they’ve graduated,” said Woodward. “This is the business we are in at LSU: providing a world class experience for our student athletes to compete and earn their degrees.

“I’m proud of how they have represented LSU, how they have represented their families, and I look forward to seeing how they continue to represent LSU throughout their professional careers. I am proud of this group and I’m excited to see what they are going to accomplish in the future. They are all excellent leaders, and I know their futures are extremely bright.”

“These students have met their challenge and have faced this semester with grit and determination,” said Haynie. “We are here tonight to celebrate that you persist regardless and you are fierce no matter the challenge. You all will succeed even in a pandemic.”
