Three Tigers Named SEC Swim & Dive Athletes of the Week

BATON ROUGE – LSU swimmers Katarina Milutinovich and Brooks Curry have been named SEC Female and Male Freshmen of the Week, and Aimee Wilson was named SEC Female Diver of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. 

Against Florida State, Milutinovich won the 200-Yard Free with a time of 1:48.17. This was the third time this season that she won the 200-Yard Free, doing so against Missouri and at the SMU Invitational. She also notched two second place finishes against Florida State in the 50 and 100-Yard Free with times of 23.41 and 50.56. She swam the first leg of the 200-Yard Free Relay in which her squad would go on to win with a time of 1:31.69. Against No. 19 Texas A&M, she finished in second place in the 100 and the 200-Yard Free with times of 51.31 and 1:49.22.

Curry was awarded Male Freshman of the Week, for the second week in a row, after his performances against the Seminoles and Aggies. Against No. 14 Florida State, Curry won the 200-Yard Free, for the third time this season, with a time of 1:36.70. Against the Seminoles, he also finished in second place in the 100-Yard Free with a time of 44.56 and fourth place in the 50-Yard Free with a time of 20.45. The next day against No. 4 Texas A&M, Curry notched two second place finishes in the 50 and 200-Yard Free with times of 20.24 and 1:37.31. In the 100-Yard Free, he claimed the bronze with a time of 45.29. Curry also swam the final leg of the winning 200-Yard Free Relay team against the Seminoles that touched the wall in 1:19.76. 

On the boards, Wilson won both the one and three-meter springboards against Florida State with scores of 288.08 and 337.95. This was the second time in Wilson’s career that she swept both springboard events in the same meet, as she did so last season against Houston and Rice. Against No. 19 Texas A&M, Wilson once again won the one-meter with a score of 300.08 and finished in second place on three-meter with a score of 310.80.

The Tigers will be back in action January 31 through February 1 as they will hit the road and head to Houston to face off against Houston and Rice.
