Ferguson Named to SEC Community Service Team

BATON ROUGE – LSU senior long snapper Blake Ferguson has been named to the SEC Community Service Team for 2019, the league office announced on Wednesday.
 
The SEC names a Community Service Team for each of its 21-league sponsored sports, looking to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his community through superior service efforts.
 
Ferguson, who will graduate later this month with a Master’s degree in Business Administration, is a four-time member of the SEC Academic Roll as well as serving as the chair of the SEC’s Football Leadership Council for the past two years.
 
Ferguson graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in marketing in just three years.
 
A native of Smyrna, Ga., Ferguson is the first long snapper in LSU football history to be named a permanent team captain in 2018. Ferguson was also named first team All-America as a long snapper by Phil Steele Publications, the only organization to recognize the position on an All-America team.
 
Off the field, Ferguson has been nominated for the AFCA Good Works Team twice and was a semifinalist for the 2019 Campbell Trophy. Ferguson earned a spot on the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District team.
 
Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in high school, Ferguson mentors children with the disease. Ferguson is active in with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes on LSU’s campus and participates in numerous community service events in Baton Rouge area.
