LSU Ranked No. 2 in Initial CFP Rankings

LSU Ranked No. 2 in Initial CFP Rankings

BATON ROUGE – Undefeated LSU holds the No. 2 spot in the first College Football Playoff Ranking, which were released for the first time in 2019 on Tuesday night on ESPN. 

The Tigers are 8-0 overall with three of their wins coming against Top 10 opponents. LSU is the only team in college football to have three Top 10 wins to its credit this season. 

Ohio State is ranked No. 1 in the first CFP Rankings for 2019. The Buckeyes are followed by LSU, Alabama, Penn State and Clemson. Georgia is No. 6, followed by Oregon, Utah, Oklahoma and Florida. 

The No. 2 ranking for LSU matches the highest CFP Ranking during the playoff era for the Tigers. LSU held the No. 2 spot in the first CFP poll in 2015. 

LSU returns to action on Saturday when the Tigers travel to face Alabama in Tuscaloosa. LSU is ranked No. 1 in the AP poll and No. 2 in the USA Today Coaches poll. Alabama is No. 1 in the USA Today Coaches poll and No. 2 in the AP poll. 

Saturday’s matchup will be the first time teams ranked No. 1 in both major polls (AP and Coaches) will meet during the regular season.
