Volleyball Falls at Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The LSU volleyball team fell to Missouri in three sets on Saturday night in Columbia, Missouri by scores of 20-25, 22-25, 18-25. The Tigers finish the 2019 season with a 15-13 overall record and a 9-9 record in the SEC. Missouri moves to 20-7 on the year and 13-5 in the league.

Taylor Bannister led the Tigers with 10 kills, while Raigen Cianciulli picked up 13 digs. Karli Rose finished with 17 assists. 4

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the first set, the two teams went back and forth until Missouri went on a five-point run to take a 10-5 lead, forcing LSU to a timeout. Missouri pushed to a 16-10 lead. The Tigers went on a 6-3 lead run to come within three, 19-16, forcing Missouri to take their first timeout.
  • The Tigers took a timeout at 23-19, but Missouri claimed the first set 25-20. The Tigers hit .071 in the first set with Bannister leading the way with three kills. Cianciulli picked up five digs.
  • In the second set, LSU and Missouri went point-for-point early, but Missouri got out to an 8-4 lead. LSU went on a 3-0 scoring run to tie the set up at 10-10 after a kill by Anita Anwusi.
  • The two teams continue to go back and forth until LSU took a 13-12 lead on an Allee Morris kill. LSU kept the lead, but Missouri worked its way back to tie the set up at 17-17, forcing LSU to a timeout. Missouri took a timeout at 20-20 and went on a 3-0 run to force LSU to its second timeout of the set.
  • Missouri claimed the set 22-25 as LSU hit .370 for the set. Bannister picked up four kills in the set, while Cianciulli picked up another five digs.
  • In the third set, LSU got out to a 7-5 lead. Missouri worked its way back and tied the set up at 9-9. Missouri went on a 5-1 run to take a 14-10 lead. LSU went on a 3-0 run of its own to come within one. Missouri took a 19-17 lead and went on to claim the set 25-18.
