Lindblad and Stone Listed In Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking

BATON ROUGE – LSU freshmen Ingrid Lindblad and Latanna Stone of the women’s golf team are currently listed in the Fall 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup rankings. Lindblad is ranked ninth for the International team and Stone is ranked 13th for the USA squad.

The Arnold Palmer Cup is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men’s and women’s university and college golfers matching the United States against a team of international players. The tournament began in 1997 and has been played at some of the world’s greatest courses. The 2018 matches at Evian Resort Golf Club became the only major tournament which features men and women playing side-by-side as partners. The United States leads the series 12-9-1.

The top six golfers from the final ranking in the Spring of 2020 will be among the 24 individuals selected to compete in the Arnold Palmer Cup. Longtime partner Rolex is continuing its 50-year relationship through its support of the matches which will be hosted by Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland on July 3-5, 2020.

Using Golfstat’s NCAA Player Ranking as a base, the ranking awards bonus points for wins and high finishes and a penalty for poor finishes along with a strength of schedule component.

The remaining six men’s and women’s spots for the United States will consist of five committee selections, including at least one non-Division I golf, and a coaches pick. The balance of the International team will include the men’s and women’s winners of The R&A Scholars Tournament, four committee selections and a coaches pick.

LSU men’s golfer Philip Barbaree is currently on the United States listing at No. 20. The next ranking will be announced on February 20. For more information, go to arnoldpalmercup.com.
