BATON ROUGE – After a week off from play, the LSU volleyball team (14-11, 8-7 SEC) is back in action on Sunday, facing Alabama (12-14, 4-11 SEC) on the road at 1 p.m. in Foster Auditorium.
The match will stream live on SEC Network+ with Eli Gold and Natalie Ledford on the call. The match will also be available via live stats at LSUSports.net.
The Tigers are coming off a sweep of Auburn last Sunday, while Alabama fell to Tennessee in three sets on Friday.
Series History
– vs. Alabama: The Tigers own a 37-28 all-time record against Alabama. The Tigers have won the last three of four matches, claiming a four-set victory over the Crimson Tide earlier this season on Oct. 18.
In that match, Samarah Hill led the Tigers with 13 kills and seven digs. Raigen Cianciulli picked up 28 digs and Karli Rose picked up a double-double of 40 assists and 10 digs.
Team Notes
>> On November 10, the Tigers claimed a four-set win over No. 25 Texas A&M, the Tigers first win over a ranked team since 2014 and the first ranked win at home since 2010.
>> Head coach Fran Flory, the winningest coach in LSU volleyball history, enters her 22nd. She owns an all-time record of 492-387.
>> Taylor Bannister became the 23rd player in program history to reach 1,000 kills against Ole Miss on Oct. 6. She is the seventh player in program history to accomplish 1,000 kills in their junior season. She now has a total of 1,211 kills.
>> Bannister picked up her fifth double-double of the season at Auburn on Sunday, recording 26 kills and 10 digs.
>> Bannister’s 26 kills is tied for most kills in a three-set match, tying Monique Adams record set in 1991.
>> Samarah Hill had a career-match, recording a career-high and match-high of 20 kills against Texas A&M. She hit .357 and was one dig shy of a double-double with nine.
>> Hill earned SEC Freshman of the Week last Monday, for the second time this season after helping the Tigers to two victories. She finished the week with 4.57 kills per set, a .352 hitting percentage, 3.29 digs per set and 4.86 points per set. She finished the Auburn match with her fourth double-double of the year of 12 kills and 14 digs.
>> Raigen Cianciulli continues to lead the Tigers in the back row as she tallied 56 digs in the last four matches. She earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 11.
>> Cianciulli now has 1,439 digs in her career which is 155 digs away from becoming the all-time leader in program history. She is third on the all-time list and is 88 digs away from tying Daniela Reis (1989-92). The all-time dig leader is Haley Smith (2012-15) with 1,593.
