DALLAS – The LSU Tigers qualified 39 for Saturday Finals after a successful prelim session at the SMU Invitational. Finals will tonight at 6:00 p.m. CT inside the Robson & Lindley Aquatic Center and Barr McMillion Natatorium.
200-Yard Backstroke
All seven Tigers on the women’s side qualified for final swims this evening. Cassie Kalisz moved up to number two on the all time list with a winning time of 1:55.08. Ellie Baldwin and Summer Stanfield also qualified for the ‘A’ Final as they placed third and fourth with times of 1:58.78 and 1:58.96. Alyssa Helak and Brittany Thompson qualified for the ‘C’ Final as they finished in 13th and 14th places with times of 2:02.24 and 2:03.06. Katie Smith qualified for the ‘D’ Final after placing 30th with a time of 2:08.21.
For the men, Matt Klotz swam the fastest prelim time with a 1:45.25 to qualify for the ‘A’ Final. Miguel Velasquez will swim in the ‘B’ Final after finishing in 14th place with a time of 1:50.67. David Wahlen will swim in the ‘C’ Final after placing 17th with a time of 1:51.12.
100-Yard Freestyle
On the women’s side, Katarina Milutinovich continued her strong week by winning the prelims with a time of 49.67, the eighth best time in LSU history. Olivia Taylor, Grace Horton, and Natalie Kucsan also qualified for the ‘A’ Final by finishing in fourth, sixth, and eighth place with times of 50.56, 51.02, and 51.13. Emily Van De Wiele and Kit Hanley qualified for the ‘B’ final by placing 13th and 15th with times of 51.41 and 51.62. Maddie Clifton will swim in the ‘C’ Final after swimming a 52.10 to finish in 21st place.
Brooks Curry swam the eighth fastest time in school history with a 43.70 to win the prelim and qualify for the ‘A’ Final. Lewis Clough and Jack Jannasch also qualified for the ‘A’ Final after finishing in fourth and seventh with times of 44.60 and 45.11. Thomas Roark and Thomas Spradley will swim in the ‘C’ Final after placing 22nd and 23rd with times of 46.17 and 46.19.
200-Yard Breaststroke
Niamh Robinson won the prelim and qualified for the ‘A’ Final after swimming the second fastest time in school history – a 2:10.49. Olivia Paskulin and Allie McDaid also qualified for the ‘A’ Final after finishing in third and eighth place with times of 2:178.62 and 2:20.91. Emily Pye will swim in the ‘B’ Final after placing 15th with a time of 2:23.13. Ellen Pack touched the wall in 2:26.04 to finish in 20th place to qualify for the ‘C’ final. Abigail Baumgartner and Isabella Buttaci will swim in the ‘D’ Final after placing 27th and 28th with times of 2:28.40 and 2:28.91.
For the men, Luca Pfyffer, Cameron Karkoska, and Jeff Snoddy will all swim in the ‘A’ Final tonight. Pfyffer finished in third place with a time of 1:58.74, Karkoska in fourth place with a 2:01.51, and Snoddy in sixth place with a 2:02.89.
200-Yard Butterfly
Nicole Rozier, Helen Grossman, and Jolee Liles all qualified for the ‘A’ Final after finishing in second, third, and eighth place with times of 1:59.55, 1:59.71, and 2:04.99. For the men, David Boylan and Ben Hooper qualified for the ‘A’ Final after placing seventh and eighth with times of 1:49.97 and 1:50.11. Trent Schachter will swim in the ‘B’ Final after placing ninth with a time of 1:51.11. Julian Norman touched the wall in 1:53.51 to finish in 18th place and qualify for the ‘C’ Final.
