Kristen Cain Named L Club Executive Director

She will Cultivate Relationships with Former LSU Student-Athletes Around the World

BATON ROUGE, La. – Kristen Cain has been appointed Executive Director of the LSU National L Club, LSU Athletics announced on Wednesday.

Cain, a former LSU softball player and assistant coach who has worked as the L Club’s Special Events and Community Relations Coordinator since 2011, will begin her new duties immediately.

“Kristen has worked tirelessly to help grow the L Club and provide exceptional experiences and a community for our letterwinners,” Director of Athletics Scott Woodward said. “As an LSU letterwinner herself, she knows how important it is to our former-student athletes to stay connected and involved with the LSU family. We are excited for her and to see how the L Club continues to evolve. “

The LSU National L Club is an organization formed to support former varsity athletes, athletic trainers, equipment managers, videographers, cheerleaders, Tiger Girls and mascots. It provides the opportunity for letterwinners to promote and maintain friendships and loyalties with one another, and it allows them to remain actively involved in Tiger Athletics.

The L Club also supports the Athletics Department, acts as a liaison between former athletes and the department, and it encourages lifelong participation with LSU Athletics by promoting the proud tradition of being a varsity letterwinner.

Cain will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive engagement program to cultivate relationships with former student-athletes in all of LSU’s varsity sports and support staffs.

“I’m excited to take on this new role and can’t wait to continue the growth of this amazing organization for our LSU letterwinners,” Cain said.  “For the past 17 years, I have called LSU my home and have a true understanding of what our rich history and tradition here stands for, not only in our community, but nationwide.

“I hope to let those traits carry the direction of the L Club into the spotlight, where our former varsity athletes feel they will always have a place to call home. I want to thank the LSU Athletics Department and the L Club Board of Directors for entrusting me with this role to lead the charge.  We are the tradition, ‘Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger!'”

Cain will develop and maintain relationships with LSU Athletics, the L Club Board of Directors, the Tiger Athletic Foundation and the Student-Athlete Life Skills Program. She will also oversee L Club data management and membership, the production and distribution of all L Club correspondence, and the operation of the LSU Athletics Hall of Fame.

Cain, a native of West Palm Beach, Fla., earned both of her degrees – a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and a master’s degree in sports management – from LSU.

During her LSU softball career from 2004-07, she was team captain of the Tigers’ 2007 squad, and she was voted on three occasions to both the SEC Academic Honor Roll and the SEC Good Works Team.

She is married to LSU baseball assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Nolan Cain, who was a four-year letterwinner and a pitcher on the Tigers’ 2009 national championship team. The couple has two children, Cason and Ryann.
