Volleyball Sweeps Auburn on the Road

BATON ROUGE – The LSU volleyball team took care of business at Auburn on Sunday afternoon, claiming a three-set victory by scores of 25-21, 25-19, 25-14. LSU is now 14-11 on the year and 8-7 in the SEC. Auburn drops to 6-16 overall and 0-14 in the league.

Bannister led the Tigers with 26 kills, tied for most kills in a three-set match in program history. She also finished with 10 digs, her sixth career double-double and her fifth this season. Samarah Hill added seven kills with 12 digs, while Karli Rose finished with 37 assists. Raigen Cianciulli added 12 digs.

UP NEXT

The Tigers are on the road next weekend for one match, traveling to Alabama, Nov. 24. The Tigers will face the Crimson Tide at 1 p.m. The match will stream live on SEC Network+ and live stats will be available.   

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • LSU got out to a 4-0 lead before Auburn scored a point. Auburn worked its way back to come within one, 6-5, but LSU continued to push, taking a 15-11 lead into the media timeout.
  • Back-to-back kills by Taylor Bannister and Anita Anwusi gave LSU a 17-13 lead and forced Auburn to a timeout. Auburn used its second timeout of the set as LSU took a 21-17 lead after Bannister’s eighth kill on the match.
  • The Tigers used a timeout as Auburn started to close in, coming within three, 24-21. An attacking error by Auburn gave the first set to the Tigers. Bannister finished the first set with 10 kills while the Tigers hit .256 as a team.
  • In the second set, the two teams went back and forth. LSU took a 15-13 lead into the media timeout after a kill by Whitney Foreman. Auburn used its first timeout as LSU went up  18-15, but Auburn worked its way back to tie the set up at 19-19 and forced LSU to a timeout.
  • LSU scored back-to-back points to take a 21-19 lead and forcing Auburn to use its final timeout of the set. The Tigers finished off the set with a 6-0 run, claiming the second set 25-19. Bannister led the Tigers with nine kills and the team hit .125.
  • In the third set, LSU came out hot with a 6-1 run to force Auburn to its first timeout of the set. The Tigers took a 16-8 lead after Bannister’s 23rd kill on the match.
  • The Tigers finished off Auburn 25-14 in the third set after hitting .257 for the match.
