Cianciulli, Hill Pick Up SEC Weekly Honors

BATON ROUGE – LSU Volleyball’s junior Raigen Cianciulli and freshman Samarah Hill picked up SEC Weekly honors as the league office announced on Monday.

Cianciulli’s honor is her third in her career and first this season. She has earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week every season since she has been a Tiger. Hill picks up her second honor as a freshman as she was named SEC Freshman of the Week back on October 21.

The two helped the Tigers to two victories last week, including an upset victory over No. 25 Texas A&M on Sunday. That win was the first win over a ranked opponent since 2014 and the first at home since 2010.

Cianciulli led the Tigers in the back row, averaging 5.14 digs per set in the two matches. She finished with a total of 36 digs on the week with a match-high 17 digs in three sets against Auburn on Wednesday and a match-high 19 digs against No. 25 Texas A&M on Sunday.

The Spring, Texas native had just two reception errors in 37 attempts and had the game-winning assists against the Aggies. In the third set against Arkansas on Wednesday, she tallied eight digs.

Hill put together a career performance on Sunday as she led the Tigers in kills against the Aggies, tallying a match-high 20 and was one dig shy of a double-double with nine. Against the Aggies, she had the kill that gave the Tigers match-point in the fourth set and had six kills in the first and fourth set on Sunday.

Against Auburn, Hill picked up her fourth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 14 digs. She hit .345 against Auburn and .357 against the Aggies for a .352 hitting percentage on the week. She also tallied four blocks and had just one reception error in 36 attempts. For the week, she averaged 4.57 kills per set, 3.29 digs per set and 4.86 points per set.

The Tigers are 13-10 on the year and are 7-6 in the SEC. They are on the road this weekend, traveling to Florida on Friday and Auburn on Sunday.
