Volleyball Celebrates Seniors Against No. 25 Texas A&M Sunday

BATON ROUGE – The LSU volleyball team (12-10, 6-6 SEC) will celebrate its seniors on Sunday as the Tigers take on No. 25 Texas A&M (17-5, 9-3 SEC) inside the Pete Maravich Assemble Center at 3 p.m.

The match will air live on SEC Network with Tiffany Greene and Missy Whittemore on the call. The match will also be available via live stats on LSUSports.net.    

The Tigers are coming off a straight-set sweep of Auburn, while Texas A&M defeated Arkansas in straight sets on Friday.

Series History
– vs. Texas A&M: The Tigers are 16-26 against the Aggies. The Tigers have lost the last two meetings, both coming in five-set fashion. The last time the Tigers defeated the Aggies was on Sept. 22, 2017 in three sets in Baton Rouge.

Team Notes
The Tigers will celebrate their three seniors on Sunday after taking on Texas A&M. Milan Stokes, Anna Zwiebel and Sydney Mukes will be recognized post game.

The last time the Tigers defeated a ranked opponent was Oct. 19, 2014 against No. 12 Kentucky in five sets. The last time the Tigers did that at home was Oct. 10, 2010 against No. 22 Tennessee in four sets.

Head coach Fran Flory, the winningest coach in LSU volleyball history, enters her 22nd. She owns an all-time record of 490-386.

Taylor Bannister became the 23rd player in program history to reach 1,000 kills against Ole Miss on Oct. 6. She is the seventh player in program history to accomplish 1,000 kills in their junior season. She now has a total of 1,157 kills.

Bannister led the Tigers against Auburn with 22 kills in three sets, which is tied for fourth most in a three-set match in program history.

In the Auburn match, Samarah Hill picked up her fourth double-double of the year and second-straight, tallying 12 kills and 14 digs. She had 17 kills and 15 digs against Mississippi State on Sunday.

Raigen Cianciulli led the Tigers in the back row in the last two matches, tallying a season-high 29 digs against Mississippi State and 17 digs against Auburn. She now has 1,400 digs in her career which is 194 digs away from becoming the all-time leader in program history. She is in fourth place on the all-time list and is 14 digs away from tying Elena Martinez (2005-08). The all-time dig leader is Haley Smith (2012-15) with 1,593.

The Tigers had three players finish with 15 or more kills against Mississippi State (Bannister 25, Hill 17, Milan Stokes 16), which is the first time since the 2017 season the Tigers have had three players reach 15 or more kills.
