Moreau Named to All-SEC Second Team, All-Freshman

Baton Rouge, La. – LSU soccer’s Maddie Moreau was named to the All-SEC Second Team and SEC All-Freshman Team on Sunday afternoon after wrapping up her debut season in the Purple and Gold.

The freshman from Youngsville, La., was a workhorse for the Tigers all season long and started all 18 matches for LSU. She played primarily as a leftback for the Tigers, but it wasn’t out of the norm to see her push up and aid in LSU’s offensive attacks.

She played a total of 1,689 minutes out of a possible 1,690. The only match she came off the pitch all season long was at Samford when she exited the game for one minute prior to halftime. Her first career collegiate goal came in an SEC road match against Georgia. With LSU trailing late in the match, Moreau was sent in behind Georgia’s backline by Marlena Cutura and she faced a one on one with a charging Bulldog goalkeeper. Moreau megged the keeper and the ball trickled into the net to tie the match up. The goal helped LSU earn a 1-1 draw.

She becomes the sixth player in program history to be named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and All-SEC Second Team in the same season joining the likes of Melissa Clarke (2005), Chelsea Potts (2006), Jade Kovacevic (2012), Summer Clarke (2013), and Emma Fletcher (2013).

The teams were voted on by SEC head coaches. Seventeen players were selected to the All-SEC First Team, 18 were named to the All-SEC Second Team, and 12 players were named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.
