BATON ROUGE – The LSU volleyball team (10-10, 4-6 SEC) returns home for a three-game home stand, playing host to Mississippi State (13-10, 2-9 SEC) Sunday at 1 p.m. inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The match will stream live on SEC Network+ with Lyn Rollins and Yvette Girouard on the call. The match will also be available via live stats on LSUSports.net.
The Tigers are coming off a three-set loss to South Carolina on Friday, while Mississippi State claimed a sweep of Auburn Friday.
Series History
– vs. Mississippi State: The Tigers own a 60-9 all-time record against the Bulldogs. LSU has won the last five meetings and six of the last seven, all in three-set fashion. The last time the Tigers fell to the Bulldogs was November 25, 2015, falling in three sets.
Against the Bulldogs on Sept. 29, the Tigers claimed a three-set victory. Taylor Bannister led the Tigers with 14 kills. Samarah Hill finished with nine kills and 12 digs, while Raigen Cianciulli finished with a match-high 15 digs.
Team Notes
>> Head coach Fran Flory, the winningest coach in LSU volleyball history, enters her 22nd. She owns an all-time record of 488-386.
>> Taylor Bannister became the 23rd player in program history to reach 1,000 kills against Ole Miss on Oct. 6. She needed just 10 to reach the feat and finished the match with 19. She is the seventh player in program history to accomplish 1,000 kills in their junior season. She now has a total of 1,110 kills.
>> Bannister led the Tigers against South Carolina, finishing the match with 11 kills.
>> Allee Morris stepped up for the Tigers against the Gamecocks, tallying 10 kills, which was the most she has had since her career-high of 13 kills at Tennessee.
>> Samarah Hill earned SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday Oct. 21, after a great performance over that weekend. She had a career-high five aces against Alabama and a career-high .393 hitting percentage. Against Florida, she had a career-high 18 digs. For the weekend, she tallied 21 kills for a .391 hitting percentage, to go along with 25 digs, three blocks and six aces. She averaged 3.00 kills per set, 3.57 digs per set, scoring 4.21 points per set.
>> Raigen Cianciulli led the Tigers in digs against South Carolina, recording a total of 14. She now has 1,354 digs in her career which is 239 digs away from becoming the all-time leader in program history. She is sixth on the list in career digs and is 27 away from taking over 5th place. Kassi Mikulik (2003-06) is currently fifth with 1,380 digs.
