FRESH FACES
The Tigers have enjoyed the emergence of many freshmen that have stepped up at the beginning of the season. Summer Stanfield, Jolee Liles, Katarina Milutinovich, Olivia Taylor, Robinson, Boylan, and Anne Tuxen all have victories under their belts.
Stanfield leads the way, winning a total of five times to this point of the season. Milutinovich has two wins, both coming at the TYR Fall Classic. Taylor earned her first career victory in the first dual meet of the season against Tulane by winning the 50-Yard Freestyle. Robinson earned her first win last weekend against Auburn in the 200-Yard IM. Boylan earned a win for the men against Auburn as he won the 200-Yard Butterfly. Tuxen has been a force on the boards in her freshman season, winning the three-meter against Tulane and at the TYR Classic.
VETERAN PRESENCE
Even with the success of the freshmen, this team still goes as the veterans go. For the men, Luht and Lewis Clough bring senior leadership to every meet. Luht has a total of three wins to this point of the season. The first win came at the TYR Classic as Luht won the 100-Yard Backstroke and the next two came against Auburn as the senior touched the wall first in both the 100 and 200-Yard Backstroke. Clough notched three top-two performances at the TYR Classic including wins in the 100 and 200-Yard Freestyle.
For the women, senior Grossman and junior Cassie Kalisz have also had good starts to the season. Grossman has three wins through three meets. All three wins have come in the 100-Yard Butterfly. Kalisz has pretty much dominated the backstroke events so far this season. She won both the 100 and 200-Yard Backstroke against Tulane and at the TYR Classic.
SMU/NORTH TEXAS SCOUT
SMU’s men’s team won their first meet of the season on October 25 against TCU by a final score of 171-125. They are freshman heavy as two freshmen won a total of five events against the Horned Frogs. The women’s team comes into the meet with a 1-1 record on the season in dual meets. In their first dual meet, the Mustangs lost to Houston by a final score of 190-104. They then also defeated TCU 180.5-119.5 to even their season record.
For North Texas, their women only squad holds a 1-0 record on the young season with a win against Little Rock 213-84. Like the Tigers, the Mean Green debuted 12 freshmen in their opening meet. That group combined for seven top-three finishes and three wins.
