Baton Rouge, La. – Amber Anning, a freshman on the LSU track and field team, is a candidate for the British U20 Female Track and Field Athlete of the Year for her performances during the 2019 season.
Anning arrived on campus in Baton Rouge in August after a successful season of sprinting in Europe. She was the European U20 silver medalist in the 400 meter dash in July with a personal best time of 52.18. The time of 52.18 moved her into third place on the British U20 all-time list. At the Euro U20 Championships she also helped Great Britain to gold in the 4×400 meter relay with a winning time of 3:33.03.
She won the 2019 U20 British title in the 400 meters outdoors in June with a time of 52.54. Indoors, she took second place at the British senior championships with a readout of 53.00 in the 400 meters.
Anning will make her LSU debut during the 2020 season.
